Leidos is actively searching for dedicated Software Developers to join our Air Traffic Business Area, working on groundbreaking flight service and air traffic systems. This role is pivotal to the FAA's mission to modernize outdated flight service capabilities, transitioning to scalable, cloud-based platforms aimed at enhancing safety and operational efficiency, especially in remote and high-dependency aviation segments. Your contributions will help deliver mission-critical solutions that ensure safe flight services for pilots.

In this dynamic Scaled Agile software development organization, you will play a vital role in the technical execution of a program that fuses globally deployed technologies with contemporary cloud-native solutions. Collaborating with cross-functional teams and industry experts, you will help deliver consistent outcomes within a highly regulated and safety-sensitive environment.

Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing software solutions independently while closely collaborating with systems engineering, product delivery, and DevSecOps teams. The main focus will be on developing containerized applications in an Agile/SAFe environment. Please note, this position supports government programs and necessitates the ability to obtain and maintain a favorable Public Trust investigation.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Engage in software development activities both individually and as part of a team, including writing, testing, debugging, and maintaining source code in an Agile setting.
• Participate actively in daily stand-ups, Release Planning, and related team functions.
• Create and execute unit and functional tests.
• Troubleshoot and aid in resolving technical issues in both lab and operational environments.
• Provide support as needed for system engineering, test engineering, and system owner teams.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field with 2-4 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with less than 2 years of experience.
• Proficiency in Java programming language.
• Experience with React.
• Familiarity with Web development and common front-end tools and languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
• Experience with Linux.
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git or Subversion.
• Experience with common development tools and IDEs (Eclipse, VS Code, etc.).
• Understanding of AI-assisted software development tools and workflows (i.e., Claude Code, Codex, etc.).
• Knowledge of Cloud-based systems.
• Familiarity with unit testing tools such as Junit and Mockito.
• Understanding of sound software development principles and practices.
• Ability to plan and prioritize personal tasks while communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Independent thinker capable of producing high-quality work both independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Eligibility to obtain SF-85 Public Trust suitability determination.
• US citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with or experience working within the Agile/SAFe framework.
• Knowledge of or experience with RESTful APIs, JSON, XML, XSD.
• Experience with Spring Framework, Spring Security, and Spring Boot.
• Familiarity with Python programming language.
• Experience with Ansible playbooks and YAML.
• Knowledge of Linux shell scripting.
• Understanding of DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with MongoDB.
• Knowledge of air traffic control and flight services.
